SHAPING FUTURE LEADERS

The Czech-German Young Professionals Program (CGYPP) is an international network for young experts, multipliers, movers and shakers from Germany and the Czech Republic. The program interlinks the fields of academia, business, media, politics, public administration and NGO.

Each year since 2008, 12-14 young professionals from Germany and the Czech Republic are invited to participate in a series of workshops, and to collaborate on relevant economic, political and social issues. CGYPP connects people with different professional backgrounds.

By exchanging and sharing experiences and perspectives, the participants not only broaden their horizons, improve communication and intercultural skills but also increase their social capital.

CGYPP 2021 Topic

Ways out of the crisis

The Covid-19 pandemic has all of a sudden turned our lives upside down. Our society has switched to crisis mode, newspapers and political speeches are dominated by Covid-19, its worldwide implications and consequences. But what kind of crisis are we actually facing right now? And what are possible ways to overcome it? The pandemic has brought to light a whole range of multi-faceted challenges. Not only are we witnessing the worst economic crisis since the depression of the 1930s. We are also confronted with a deficient health care system. More than ever before we are experiencing the urgent need to catch up in terms of digitization – also in the educational sector. To some extent, we are facing a lack of solidarity within the European Union.

  • First immediate measures have been taken, focusing particularly on restoring the economic strength. The task is now to develop long-term strategies. But do we really want to return to the status quo ante?
  • Or are we willing to rethink our traditional answers when facing new challenges and questions?
  • Is the Covid-19 pandemic the accelerator of deglobalization? If so, is it a big threat for Germany and the Czech Republic?
  • And finally, the number of those who feel left behind and restricted in their personal freedoms is increasing, which has led to a certain crisis of confidence in our democratic system.

These and other topical questions are addressed during the 12th year of the Czech-German Young Professionals Program (CGYPP).
