The program started on Thursday April 13 at the European Academy Berlin with introductory activities and a lively exchange about the participant’s backgrounds and expectations for the upcoming days. This round was followed up by a keynote speech and a discussion with Siri Hummel, director of the Maecenata Institute for Philanthropy and Civil Society.
The second day in Berlin started with a debate on polarization in Germany and Europe with Endre Borbáth from WZB Berlin and an internal workshop. After lunch, the CGYPP participants moved to the Red City Hall of Berlin to discuss about political participation with Ana-Maria Trasnea, Plenipotentiary of the Land Berlin to the Federal Government and State Secretary for the Promotion of Engagement, Democracy an International Affairs. At the evening, the group was invited to Euractive Berlin to explore how media support democratic structures and to discuss about the perspectives of creating European public with Oliver Noyan.
We continued on Saturday with an internal podcast workshop and a lively World Café discussion rounds about sustainable future for democracies. CGYPP participants got the opportunity to exchange their ideas with Nataliya Pryhornytska from the Alliance of Ukrainian Organizations, Kai-Olaf Lang from Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP) and Manuel Knapp, Co-Chairman of the Europa-Union Berlin. In the afternoon, the group visited Futurium, the House of Futures in the Berlin City center.
The last day of the CGYPP seminar in Berlin was dedicated to technical aspects of the podcasts – projects of the participants that will be published on our channel Czech-German perspectives. The participants also got the opportunity to record their own voices and produce a short sound bite. The rest of the seminar was dedicated to feedback & wrap up activities.
All had a great time in Berlin and are very much looking forward to the next seminar in June in Prague!
