Energy security is one of the priorities of the current Czech Presidency of the EU Council. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February, the European Union has become aware of the need to reduce its dependence on Russian mineral resources. Is it possible to completely cut ourselves off from Russian gas, oil and coal? What impact will this have on the speed of the transition to low-carbon and renewable sources? How challenging will the coming winter be for European households and how far could energy prices rise? Can cross-border solutions be found, or should we focus on national solutions? The discussion will take place in the framework of the Czech-German Young Professionals Programme (more information on the programme can be found at www.cgypp.eu).
